hi,

to anyone's knowledge, are there existing opensource command-line
tools out there for merging EXR channels from different images,
removing channels from images, renaming channels, adding user
strings, etc? i see something called EXR Tools, but that currently
only performs filtering/color operations on RGBA images.

i'm basically looking for something similar to the EXIFutils suite,
but for OpenEXR.

http://www.hugsan.com/EXIFutils/html/features.html

any info would be great!

cheers,
erik

for merging EXR channels from different images
and just to clarify, by merge, i mean in the concatenation sense, not a
compositing operation.

e.g.
if image A contained [red, green, blue, alpha]

and image B contained [blah, foo, skrit, blammo]

merging the two sets would produce an 8-channel image.

that sort of thing..

cheers,
erik

You should be able to do all of these operations with pfstools
(http://pfstools.sf.net/), but some will require writing scripts in
Octave. The limitation is that pfstools store all channels (except
color channels) in OpenEXR in 32-bit float format.
